Anyone willing to enter the UK to study on a student visa must pay the surcharge. Paying the IHS allows you to use the National Health Service in the UK.

For example, if you are doing a 12-month Masters course the charges would be £705. This is because your visa will be issued for a total of 16-17 months.

The application fee for the visa from outside the UK would cost £348. You must pay an additional £348 per person for any dependents.

Licensed student sponsors use a secure IT system called the sponsorship management system (SMS) to assign a CAS. Once the student receives an unconditional offer letter from the university and pays the security deposit for their admission, a CAS letter is assigned.

Each CAS has a unique reference number linked to the CAS checking service that stores the applicant’s information.

• personal details
• course of study
• sponsor
• finances
• academic and English language ability (documents or information that the sponsor used to assess academic and English language ability)

The applicant must submit a CAS with their application.
